A Few of My Favorite Things

'Tis the season! I know it's a little early, but Christmas is upon us. How do I know? Because Oprah said so. Oprah's final Favorite Things episode aired yesterday, which means the season of giving is here. I missed the episode (work. ugh.), but I heard on the news that she did not disappoint. So, in light of the season, I thought I'd share with you just a few of my favorite things.....

My absolute favorite thing this year- the 2010 SEC East Champions, the Carolina Gamecocks! I am so proud. I will not make it to Atlanta on December 4th (for good reasons- I'll explain later), but Momma, Daddy and Ammie will be there. Go Gamecocks!

Since I read fashion blogs every single day, I thought I'd also share a few of my new favorite items. These are Kate Spade's Gumdrop earrings. I love them. I first saw them on another blog and started searching for them this summer at the outlet stores. After a few months of unsuccessful Kate Spade outlet visits, I decided to order them online. I like them so much, I'm considering getting a black or pink pair! Check them out at http://www.katespade.com/.

This dress is my latest Ann Taylor Loft purchase. I swear, everything I've bought this year has been from the Loft. I love this dress with a black shirt underneath and patterned tights with boots. A perfect, easy work ensemble!

There is nothing like good Christmas music to get you in the spirit. I picked up the Glee Christmas album this week and it is AMAZING! Rest assured it will be in my CD player until Christmas!

And finally, a trip to my favorite place-New York City! What better place to kick of the Holiday season? Brad and I will be travelling to the Big Apple December 4th-7th for a little holiday rendezvous. We will be staying at the historic Waldorf Astoria on Park Avenue.

Our first stop...The Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Plaza!
More pictures to come.

These are a few of my favorite things!

Georgia On My Mind

I'm so behind with my blogging. Here's a quick update from two weekends ago!

I travelled to Georgia for Hayes and Molly's wedding the weekend of October 2nd. I shot out of the office at 3:30 on Friday and Ammie and I headed to Atlanta for the night to stay with Rachel. This was my very first trip to Atlanta. As you can imagine, I was so excited to see the big city! Friday night we went out in Buckhead (and stayed out way too late.) On Saturday morning, I drug Ammie out of bed to accompany me on a mini shopping trip before I had to leave for Molly's wedding in Milledgeville. We made it to the Container Store, DSW and Nordstrom Rack. So much fun, but we were too rushed. Scheduling another shopping trip in Atlanta soon is a must!
Hayes and Molly's wedding on Saturday was breathtakingly magical. Brad drove from Clemson to meet me in Milledgeville and we had a fabulous night dancing with friends!

Brad and I woke up early Sunday morning, picked up Ammie in Atlanta and caught a Braves game at Turner Field. It was my first Major League Baseball game...and Bobby Cox's last regular season game as manager of the Braves!

The field is absolutely amazing...and so is the food! We munched on hot dogs, pretzels, peanuts and dippin' dots.

Immediately after the game we hopped in the car and began the long track back to Charleston. Ammie and I pulled into town right before midnight. Ugghh. Waking up and going to work Monday morning was rough. But oh so worth it!
A crazy, fun, successful weekend in Georgia!

The Perfect Excuse

Last week I began taking a photography class through MUSC for work. I've always been interested in photography and when this opportunity arose,I pounced. This class is quite an undertaking. Serious stuff...I'm learning things like white balance, aperture, shutter speed. A whole new vocabulary-Just fascinating!
Unfortunately, I'm working with my crappy Nikon (I-bought-on-Black-Friday-from-Target-for-$85) camera. Embarrassing. This class is one on one, so typically the professional and I spend half the class trying to figure out how my crappy camera operates. For instance, yesterday we both shot some pics of the moon at dusk. Sounds weird, but just hear me out. Mine=a white spot. Photographer's (using and SLR)=a freaking telescopic/in your face/craters/if aliens lived there you would be able to see them moon.
So, that's it. I'm asking for an SLR for Christmas. No use not utilizing the new skill set, right? Finally-the perfect excuse!
Here are some shots from my first homework assignment. Not great, but I've only had one class.
Just wait until next week....I'm going to be a photography genius (with my crappy Nikon)! :)

Sunshine in Boca- Happy Labor Day

Brad and I had an amazing weekend at the Waldorf-Astoria Boca Raton Beach Club Resort in Boca Raton,Florida. We are exhausted after a full long weekend of sunshine and delicious food! As you can see, we spent all of our time by the beach and by the pool. We are currently making the 9 hour drive back to Charleston.
Hope everyone had a happy Labor Day Weekend!
