Last week I began taking a photography class through MUSC for work. I've always been interested in photography and when this opportunity arose,I pounced. This class is quite an undertaking. Serious stuff...I'm learning things like white balance, aperture, shutter speed. A whole new vocabulary-Just fascinating!
Unfortunately, I'm working with my crappy Nikon (I-bought-on-Black-Friday-from-Target-for-$85) camera. Embarrassing. This class is one on one, so typically the professional and I spend half the class trying to figure out how my crappy camera operates. For instance, yesterday we both shot some pics of the moon at dusk. Sounds weird, but just hear me out. Mine=a white spot. Photographer's (using and SLR)=a freaking telescopic/in your face/craters/if aliens lived there you would be able to see them moon.
So, that's it. I'm asking for an SLR for Christmas. No use not utilizing the new skill set, right? Finally-the perfect excuse!
Here are some shots from my first homework assignment. Not great, but I've only had one class.
Just wait until next week....I'm going to be a photography genius (with my crappy Nikon)! :)
