A Fairytale

New York City in the Spring is nothing short of a fairytale for a young lady.

glittering lights; soaring skyscrapers; gorgeous tulips on the waterfront; Broadway shows; idols: as in ANN CURRY; hugs from ANN CURRY (omg, omg); warm afternoons in central park; shopping; more shopping; little italy pizza pies; being with your girlfriends in the most magical city on Earth

Here is my "Once upon a time in April...

A World Wonder

Arizona

Playing catch up:
Brad and and I  traveled out West to Arizona in March. We spent three nights at The Boulders, a Waldorf-Astoria resort in the small town of Carefree. The landscape was unlike anything I've ever seen. Barren yet breathtaking. We did a little hiking, sat by the pool and attended a real-life bull riding contest at the Buffalo Chip Saloon. I enjoyed watching the cowboys and found it intriguing that folks in Arizona love country music and enjoy line dancing and drinking beer by a bonfire. I wanted Brad to buy us matching cowboy hats they were selling at the Saloon. But, ultimately we decided against it.
After a restful few days, we rented a car and began our trek to the Grand Canyon (only a four hour drive from our resort). In those four hours we went from an 85 degree temperature with sunny skies to 40 degrees with inches of snow on the ground. Crazy.
As you would expect, the Grand Canyon was nothing short of majestic. It is unfathomable that someone could look at something that expansive and astounding and not believe in a higher power. It honestly was a spiritual experience; one that brought tears to my eyes. The tons of tourists hanging around don't talk. They just stare in a state of disbelief. I found myself taking hundreds of pictures of the two billion years of geologic history in front of my eyes. None of my pictures do it justice.
Personally, it felt like I was a step closer to Heaven.
I loved this plaque I found at one of the overlooks "All the Earth worships Thee; They sing praises to Thee, sing praises to Thy name."
It was a meaningful trip. One that I will never forget.
